First Photos: Russos’ Big-Budget “Citadel” Series

Amazon Prime

“Avengers: Endgame” and “The Gray Man” directors Joe and Anthony Russo have revealed the first official photos from “Citadel,” the big-budget ensemble spy thriller series the pair are doing for Amazon Prime.

Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville lead the cast of the six-episode series which follows spies from all over the globe who come together to work for Citadel – a spy organization that has no allegiance to any country.

Eight years later, the group has been destroyed by a shadowy organization called Manticore. Madden and Chopra Jonas play agents who are reunited and must attempt to piece together what happened and who they really are.

Complicating matters is that their memories have been wiped and they have been living normal lives for years, unaware they’re actually elite spies. Tucci plays their former Citadel colleague who recruits the pair for a mission to stop Manticore, while Manville plays the villain of the piece – a determined woman working for dark forces.

Since its inception, the plan has always been that the show will generate local language satellite series spinoffs in markets like India, Italy and Mexico that will see local stars in the key roles of those spin-offs. The Italian one has already been shot with the Indian one currently filming.

Shot in Atlanta, London, Morocco, and Valencia, “Citadel” will launch with two episodes on April 28th. The first trailer for the series is scheduled to debut Wednesday.
