65 hours ahead of the big game, Sony Pictures opted to premiere its Super Bowl commercial for the sci-fi thriller “65” starring Oscar nominee Adam Driver alongside Ariana Greenblatt and Chloe Coleman.
Coming out of nowhere late last year with a trailer that got many excited, the TV spot will likely be a first look at the film for many tuning in to the broadcast.
The story begins with a catastrophic crash of a spaceship on a seemingly unknown and uncharted planet. The ship’s pilot Mills (Driver) quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth… at a point 65 million years ago around the time of the extinction of the dinosaurs.
Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, a young girl named Koa (Greenblatt), must make their way across an unknown, rugged and incredibly hostile terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive.
The film is being dubbed “Planet of the Apes meets Jurassic Park” and offers a somewhat different take on dinosaurs than Universal’s mega-franchise with creatures that look somewhat meaner as they take on Driver who is armed with a ray gun, determination and not much else.
The project hails from producer Sam Raimi whilst “A Quiet Place” scribes Scott Beck & Bryan Woods are writing and directing. “65” is slated to hit cinemas exclusively on March 10th.
