Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly are set to be de-aged for Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming adaptation of Richard McGuire’s graphic novel “Here” at Miramax.
The film is set in a single room and follows its inhabitants over many years. The de-aging will be handled by a new generative AI-driven tool dubbed Metaphysic Live by the same tech film behind those ‘DeepTomCruise’ deepfakes.
The claim is the tool can be used to create “high-resolution photorealistic face swaps and de-aging effects on top of actors’ performances live and in real-time without the need for further compositing or VFX work.”
As a result, the technology will be used extensively on the film to generate face replacements and de-aging. The film is scheduled for a 2024 release in the U.S. through Sony Pictures.
