Netflix has released the official trailer for its coming-of-age drama film “True Spirit” based on the inspiring real-life journey of Australian teenager Jessica Watson (played by “Titans” star Teagan Croft).
At just 16 years old, Watson became the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop, and unassisted around the world.
Many expect her to fail, but with the support of her sailing coach and mentor Ben Bryant (Cliff Curtis) and her parents (Josh Lawson and Anna Paquin), she is determined to accomplish what was thought to be impossible – navigating some of the world’s most challenging stretches of ocean over the course of seven months.
Sarah Spillane helms from a screenplay she co-wrote with Rebecca Banner and Cathy Randall. Bridget Webb, Vivien Turner, Stacy Clausen and Todd Lasance co-star in the film, which premieres on the service on February 3rd.
