Disney

Filmmaker James Cameron announced at D23 Expo yesterday that production has officially begun on a fourth “Avatar” feature.

Cameron appeared virtually from New Zealand where he confirmed the second “Avatar” is still in post-production and is “going well”. In addition, filming was continuing on the third one.

Cameron, who screened 3D scenes from the film at the event, said: “I’m super excited to be finally finishing up movie two. I know everyone’s been waiting a long time. Hopefully, we’ll show something today, and you can decide if it’s been worth it.”

Stephen Lang was on hand and said of his returning character: “You can’t keep a good marine down. He regrouped in hell.”

The second “Avatar” is set for a December 16th release this year, with the third in 2024 and the fourth in 2026.
