Netflix has always been famous for two things it pioneered in its space – no ads and the binge model of releasing series.

They’ve already changed their mind on the former, with a new ad-supported tier on the way. This week though, a new report suggests the latter could become a thing too.

Puck News is reporting that Netflix is now seriously considering releasing some of its biggest titles in the weekly episode format.

This follows the competition like Disney+ and Amazon Prime gaining the benefits from extending the release window of their series – generating more chatter and extending the length to which they could potentially attract more viewers and/or subscribers.

Netflix has experimented with split seasons in the past, such as with some of its biggest original hits like “Stranger Things” and “Money Heist,” but weekly releases has mostly been limited to a handful of shows or licensed network broadcasts internationally.

That could be about to change.
