Amazon Prime has released the trailer for writer/director/actress Lena Dunham’s new medieval coming-of-age comedy feature “Catherine Called Birdy”, which hits cinemas on Septemner 23rd before a global Prime Video release on October 7th.
“Game of Thrones” breakout and future “The Last of Us” series star Bella Ramsey leads a cast that includes Andrew Scott, Billie Piper, Lesley Sharp, Sophie Okonedo, Joe Alwyn, Isis Hainsworth, Dean-Charles Chapman and Paul Kaye.
It’s 1290 in the Medieval English village of Stonebridge where Lady Catherine (known as Birdy) is the youngest child of Lord Rollo who sees his daughter as his path out of financial ruin by marrying her off to a wealthy man for money and land.
But Birdy is spirited, clever, and adventurous, and ready to put off any suitor that comes calling in increasingly ingenious ways. Her imagination, defiance, and deep belief in her own right to independence put her on a collision course with her parents.
The project is based on the book by Karen Cushman and will mark the second film Dunham has coming out this year following the just released “Sharp Stick” starring Kristine Froseth.
