A24 has premiered the trailer for “Pearl,” a film that serves as a prequel to last year’s Ti West-directed “X” and takes the action back to 1918 at the tail end of WWI.
Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl (Mia Goth) must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother.
Lusting for a glamorous life like she’s seen in the movies, Pearl’s ambitions, temptations, and repressions all collide in the technicolour-inspired origin story of X’s villain.
West penned the film while also filming “X” in New Zealand and then shot “Pearl” in secret immediately following the completion of photography on “X”.
