TNT’s TV series adaptation of Bong Joon-ho’s 2013 post-apocalyptic film “Snowpiercer” is coming to the end of the line. A spokesperson for the network says in a statement: “We can confirm that Snowpiercer will end after a successful, multi-season run on TNT.”
The show is currently in production of its fourth season which will now be its last. Cast options were coming up and weren’t picked up so actors in the series will be able to book other jobs once they wrap filming that final season which will go to air next year.
The series follows the passengers of a perpetually moving train carrying the remnants of humanity after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Jennifer Connelly, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Rowan Blanchard and Clark Gregg star.
The series scored critical acclaim and strong ratings, the show premiering as the top scripted drama on all of ad-supported cable in 2020.
However it was also the last remaining original scripted series on TNT which is getting out of the scripted business as its new parent company Warner Bros. Discovery realigns its various content silos.
