Having delivered them a billion-dollar success with “Aladdin,” filmmaker Guy Ritchie is set to return to Disney Pictures for another live-action transfer of a 1990s animated classic.
Deadline reports that Ritchie will oversee the live-action film based on 1997’s Greek myth-inspired “Hercules”. In addition, “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe & Anthony Russo and their AGBO production company will produce.
The studio is reportedly in the process of hiring writers after Dave Callaham wrote the first draft.
Ritchie recently shot an untitled action thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal which is now with MGM and Amazon. His most recent film, the Jason Statham and Josh Hartnett-led “Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre,” was originally to have opened this Spring but is currently undated.
