“American Gigolo” Series Showrunner Exits

Showtime Orders Bernthal Led American Gigolo

Showtime and Paramount Television Studios have abruptly parted ways with former “Ray Donovan” showrunner David Hollander following a longtime relationship with him.

As a result, he has also exited the upcoming Jon Bernthal-led series adaptation of Paul Schrader’s 1980 film “American Gigolo” which is currently in production with seven of its planned ten-episode run complete.

Showtime declined to comment on the reason for the exit but it reportedly comes in the wake of a misconduct investigation. David Bar Katz is expected to take over as showrunner for the remaining episodes to be produced.

Hollander also created shows “The Guardian” and “Heartland” and directed the pilot for ‘Gigolo’.
