Irma Vep
The first photos are out of Oscar winner Alicia Vikander in the HBO limited series “Irma Vep”. Written and directed by filmmaker Olivier Assayas and produced in partnership with A24, the series will have its premiere at Cannes next month and debut June 6th on HBO. [Source: Twitter]
American Tragedies: Waco – The Trials
John Leguizamo will reprise his role of ATF agent Jacob Vasquez while David Costabile, J. Smith Cameron, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson and Abbey Lee will also star in “American Tragedies: Waco – The Trials” for the Paramount+ service.
The limited series serves as a sequel to Paramount Network’s “Waco” mini-series which starred Taylor Kitsch as David Koresh. This will explore the wide-ranging fallout following the events at the Branch Davidians compound and the uneven scales of justice the survivors faced. [Source: Deadline]
The Every
HBO is developing a half-hour comedy series based on the Dave Eggers novel “The Every”. Eggers will serve as an executive producer while Rachel Axler will adapt. She will also executive produce alongside David Miner.
The series sees the world’s largest tech company merge with the planet’s dominant e-commerce site. This creates the richest and most dangerous, and oddly the most beloved, monopoly ever known: The Every. [Source: Variety]
Motherland Bounce
HBO Max is developing the comedy series “Motherland Bounce” based on the life of Hasidic hip-hop star Nissim Black. “The Gilded Age” executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield and writer/comedian Moshe Kasher are spearheading the project.
The story follows Black’s spiritual quest as the former gangster rapper becomes the world’s first Black Chassidic Jewish hip hop star. Kasher, Black and Richardson-Whitfield executive produce with the latter directing. [Source: Deadline]
The Flash
The CW has released an extended new trailer for the remaining six episodes of its eighth season. The series was recently renewed for a ninth and presumed to be final season and so far is one of only two Arrowverse series confirmed to return next year – the other being a third season of “Superman & Lois”.
