Apple TV+ has premiered the trailer for “Pachinko,” the generation-spanning eight-episode drama series involving celebrated filmmakers (“Columbus”) and Justin Chon (“Blue Bayou”).

Both serve as executive producers and directed four episodes each of the series (with Kogonada directing the pilot) based on the best-selling 2017 historical fiction novel by Min Jin Lee.

A saga spanning across four generations and three countries, the series follows a Korean family who immigrates to Japan. The story deals with themes of Japan’s colonization of Korea and the generational trauma that lingers from it.

The project has been adapted by writer and executive producer Soo Hugh (“The Terror,” “The Killing”) who created the series and serves as showrunner.

Oscar-winner Yuh-Jung Youn, Lee Minho, Jin Ha, Minha Kim, Soji Arai, Kaho Minami, Steve Sanghyun Noh, Junwoo Han, Yu-na Jeon and Jimmi Simpson star in the series which premieres March 25th on Apple TV+.
