Marvel Studios and Disney’s “Eternals” pulled in a very promising $9.5 million in Thursday previews for Marvel Studios and Disney.
The Chloe Zhao-directed film had the third-best preview numbers of the year to date above “Shang-Chi” ($8.8 million) but behind “Black Widow” ($13.2 million) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” ($11.6 million).
Disney and Marvel are projecting a weekend debut of $75 million in North America. “Eternals” is also launching day-and-date in most international markets and has collected a further $19.8 million in those on Wednesday and Thursday.
The box-office stats come as critical review scores keep plummeting with the film now only at 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, even as audience scores sit at a much higher 86%.
