Snowpiercer
TNT has just announced that the third season of its sci-fi drama “Snowpiercer” will premiere on the network on January 24th 2022. The series was already renewed for a fourth season back in July.
The third season will pick up with Layton (Daveed Diggs) and his inner circle commanding a small ten car “pirate train” in search of Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) and a possible warm location to restart a normal civilization. Meanwhile, Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) awaits Layton’s return. [Source: TNT]
Fantasy Island
FOX has picked up its Roselyn Sanchez-led reimagining of “Fantasy Island” for a second season next year. The first season averaged around three million viewers in Live+7 and was the summer’s top scripted show among adults 18-49.
Sanchez will reprise her role as Elena Roarke, the proprietor of the luxury resort that aims to fulfil its guests’ every fantasy. Kiara Barnes is also set to return as her right hand Ruby Akuda. [Source: THR]
Magic Johnson
Apple TV+ has announced a four-part docuseries about NBA Hall of Famer Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson which will explore his accomplishments on the court and off, as well as his global impact. The docuseries does not yet have a title but will be directed by Rick Famuyiwa. [Source: Variety]
No Good Deed
Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”) will executive produce the ABC thriller series “No Good Deed” which 20th Television will produce. The story follows a warm-hearted botany professor with a dark secret who welcomes a troubled student into her home. Said student uses her wiles and charms on vulnerable friends and family, unearthing secrets town and destroying lives. [Source: THR]
Griselda
Sofia Vergara will play famed drug queenpin Griselda Blanco in the six-episode Netflix limited series “Griselda” with Ingrid Escajeda (“Justified,” “Empire”) serving as showrunner and writer. The story chronicles the real-life of Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. [Source: Deadline]
