Hot off strong turns in “Ted Lasso,” “Werewolves Within” and “The Tomorrow War,” actor Sam Richardson is in final negotiations to appear in the “Hocus Pocus” sequel at Disney Pictures.
Currently in production, this follow-up to the 1993 comedy sees Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprising their original roles as three witches bent on becoming immortal.
The sequel will see three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson sisters back to modern-day Salem. Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal”) is directing with Lynn Harris serving as producer. Jen D’Angelo has penned the screenplay.
“Hocus Pocus 2” will release sometime in 2022. Richardson will also soon be seen in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s limited series “The Afterparty” for the Apple TV+ service.
