The Scent of Burnt Flowers
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Watchmen,” “Candyman”) is attached to star and executive produce the limited thriller series “The Scent of Burnt Flowers” from Macro Television Studios.
Blitz Bazawule (“The Burial of Kojo”) will write, direct, and executive produces the six-episode series set in the 1960s and follows an African American couple on the run, and the charismatic Ghanaian musician, Kwesi (Abdul-Mateen), whom they lean on to preserve their freedom. [Source: Variety]
Painkiller
Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick will lead the cast of Netflix’s opioid crisis limited series “Painkiller”. West Duchovny, Dina Shihabi and John Rothman also star and filming will begin later this year in Toronto.
Aduba will play as Edie, an investigator leading the case against Purdue Pharma. Broderick will portray Richard Sackler, scion of the billionaire Sackler family and senior executive at Purdue Pharma. [Source: Deadline]
