“Prisoners,” “Insomnia” Become UK TV Series

Alcon Media Group (“Practical Magic 2,” “Blade Runner 2049”) has announced that its new Alcon International Studios division is planning to adapt a number of movies into UK TV series.

Specifically, five films are looking at getting potential TV series takes in the UK. The films are:

– Christopher Nolan’s “Insomnia” remake
– Denis Villeneuve’s dark drama “Prisoners”
– The Denzel Washington-led “The Book of Eli”
– The Kate Hudson-led rom-com “Something Borrowed”
– The Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler-led “P.S. I Love You”

Alcon International Studios is also involved in the international co-financing package for the previously announced TV reboot of Kathryn Bigelow’s “Point Break” at Studiocanal and AMC.

Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson say in a statement: “We’re very excited about what AIS represents for Alcon’s next chapter. Alcon is also behind this week’s “The Social Reckoning” film release, backed films such as “The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants” and “The Blind Side,” and produced Syfy & Amazon’s acclaimed sci-fi series “The Expanse”. They’re also involved in the upcoming “Blade Runner 2099” series which debuts next month.
