A bunch of notable British thespians are set to star in The BBC and BritBox’s new Poirot series “Hercule” which is currently shooting in Liverpool with Edward Bluemel as the famed Belgian detective.

“Black Sails” star Toby Stephens, “The IT Crowd” alum Katherine Parkinson, “Black Doves” breakout Omari Douglas, and “Death in Paradise” star Ralf Little have all joined the run.

In addition, Jessica Alexander (“The Beauty”), Honor Swinton Byrne (The Souvenir”), Paul Forman (“Emily in Paris”), Arthur Hughes (“Shardlake”), River Medway (“RuPaul’s Drag Race UK”) and Natalie Quarry (“Call the Midwife”) are also involved.

The six-episode show is billed as “an intimate study of Hercule Poirot” while introducing the world’s greatest fictional detective to “future friends, allies and one particular nemesis”.

As previously revealed, the series will incorporate three books into its narrative. The first is “Lord Edgware Dies,” the just-revealed second is “Peril at End House”. The third has yet to be revealed.

The inclusion of ‘Peril’ also suggests the inclusion of regular Poirot characters like Arthur Hastings and Chief Inspector Japp. Benji Walters pens the series.
