Michael Mitnick (“The Current War,” “The Giver”) has been hired to write the Jim Henson biopic “Muppet Man” for Disney Pictures and The Jim Henson Company.
The live-action feature will chart the life and times of the legendary puppeteer and creator of The Muppets, Fraggle Rock, and many of the Sesame Street characters. He was also the director of cult films such as “Labyrinth” and “The Dark Crystal”.
The feature will focus on Henson’s battles to convince broadcasters on giving “The Muppets” a go and how he worked to get the characters on air where they became a cultural staple.
Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson will produce. Aaron and Jordan Kandell (“Adrift”) penned the previous draft. Mitnick is also currently working on a limited series on Siegfried & Roy.
