HBO is reportedly in early development on “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” a series that serves as a prequel to the events of “Game of Thrones” reports Variety.
The one-hour show would be based on the series of fantasy novellas by George R. R. Martin and follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg).
Martin has published three novellas with the pair over the years, the three were then collected and published together in 2015 book “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”.
The events would take place ninety years prior to the events depicted in the ‘Thrones’ series, a nearer jumping off point than the upcoming and already announced “House of the Dragon” series which will arrive in 2022 and be set three centuries before ‘Thrones’. That show will document the buildup to the Targaryen civil war in Westeros.
No writer or talent is currently attached to the project, but it is a high priority for HBO.
