Filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed that they are still working on the screenplay to the Chris Hemsworth-led “Extraction” sequel at Netflix.
The Sam Hargrave-directed and Russos-penned first film takes place in an underworld of weapons dealers and traffickers and follows a young boy who becomes the pawn in a war between notorious drug lords, and the Australian mercenary Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) sent out to retrieve him.
Speaking with ComicBook.com recently, the pair suggest they are currently planning to start shooting the new film sometime early next year. Joe Russo says:
“Yeah we’re still working on two. We’re in the script phase right now but we’re hoping to shoot that sometime next year. And then you know, say I’m super excited, Hemsworth’s super excited, Netflix is excited so it’s really just a function of getting the script done.”
Joe Russo has written the script with Hargrave this time out.
