Dinklage’s “Cyrano” Becomes MGM Film Musical

MGM has acquired the film rights to “Cyrano” and is planning a musical film adaptation of the 2018 stage reinvention of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac story.

Four-time Emmy winner Peter Dinklage will return in the title role he played onstage, while Haley Bennett reprises her role as Roxanne which she played alongside him at the Terris Theatre.

Brian Tyree Henry and Ben Mendelsohn will also star in supporting roles while Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Darkest Hour”) directs. Guy Heeley, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce.

Dinklage’s wife, veteran director, writer and stage actress Erica Schmidt, penned the original musical’s libretto alongside several members of American rock band The National doing the music including Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger.
