NBC’s “The Blacklist” was midway through shooting its season finale when the coronavirus production shutdown ground everything to a halt. Rather than just holding off until next season, the team behind it have come up with a creative solution.
NBC has announced that its upcoming seventh season finale, titled “The Kazanjian Brothers,” will be part live-action, part comic book-style animation. The animation component will be added to incorporate with the already filmed live-action scenes.
Cast members, including leads James Spader and Megan Boone, recorded dialogue for the animated scenes from their homes while editors and animators are carrying out their work remotely.
In the finale which airs May 15th, the Task Force investigates an accountant who works for lucrative criminals in order to find the violent and thuggish brothers hired for his protection. At the same time, Liz must make a momentous decision.
The series has already been renewed for an eighth season.
