“Batman” Scribe Penning “1984” Successor

Paramount Pictures has acquired “2084,” an original spec script from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” co-writer Mattson Tomlin.

The project is being described as a spiritual sister to George Orwell’s “1984”, the famed novel about a totalitarian state filled with propaganda and constant surveillance and run by a leader known as Big Brother.

It is also said to have a tone similar to Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” and the Wachowski’s “The Matrix”. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (“Transformers,” “G.I. Joe”) will produce.

Tomlin previously set up an adaptation of the comic “Fear Agent” at Amazon and the video game “Mega Man”.
