Iron Man 3 vs. Thor 2 Debate Raging

With few new films on the way in the near future, film fans on social media have turned towards debating older ones. In the past day or so, one that has taken hold and has trended wildly has tied back to two Marvel Studios sequels. Specifically the question is asked as to which is worse – “Iron Man 3” and “Thor: The Dark World”?

In terms of critical reviews, there’s no question that “Iron Man 3” rates considerably better as a film than the first “Thor” sequel. In fact on Rotten Tomatoes, “Iron Man 3” sits at 79% (6.97) compared to “Thor: The Dark World” at 66% (6.23) with critics. Audience score also puts Downey’s third solo outing above Hemsworth’s second, albeit at a much closer margin.

Reaction wise the “Thor” sequel seems to be widely dismissed bar Tom Hiddleston’s work as Loki, whereas “Iron Man 3” is more divisive with some loving it and some slamming it. Myself here at Dark Horizons has taken a lot of s–t for my very pro-“Iron Man 3” stance over the years.

Plenty of other comments that have come up in the debate include why is the argument not the more widely derided “Iron Man 2” vs. “Thor 2,” and where is “The Incredible Hulk” in all of this? Others took the chance to make digs at both “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Captain Marvel” as well.

With the release dates of Marvel’s slate of films and shows currently not clear, expect more of these kinds of debates to come.
