Van Dyke Confirmed For “Poppins” Sequel

As part of a new profile story for THR, the legendary 91-year-old Dick Van Dyke has confirmed that he will join the cast of “Mary Poppins Returns” which is currently in the works at Disney Pictures.

It’s not clear if he’s in a major role or just a cameo, he says: “This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up. It’s a great cast — Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and that guy [Lin-Manuel Miranda] from Hamilton.”

Emily Blunt takes on the role made famous by Julie Andrews in the original Disney classic which also starred Van Dyke in his younger years. Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer and Colin Firth also star in ‘Returns’ which Rob Marshall directs and which is targeting a Christmas 2018 release.
