Syfy Is Filming A “Deep Blue Sea” Sequel

Syfy is reportedly at work on a direct-to-TV sequel to Renny Harlin’s 1998 killer shark movie “Deep Blue Sea”. Moviehole reports the project is shooting in Cape Town with Darin Scott (“House Party: Tonight’s the Night”) directing and Michael Beach starring.

The story follows Dr. Klaus Van Etten who experiments on bull sharks, despite protests from marine experts. The sharks soon get free and cause havoc.

No other cast members have been announced at this moment, but BD has a photo confirming that filming is underway. The project is NOT tied to the straight-to-DVD sequel that Warner Premiere planned in 2009 and boasted surgically enhanced sharks equipped with machine guns and torpedoes.
