A bunch of trailers for some smaller releases have hit in the past few days, let’s take a look.
Things kick off with “Wounds,” the Sundance genre hit which hails from celebrated “Under the Shadow” director Babak Anvari. Armie Hammer, Dakota Johnson and Zazie Beetz co-star in the film which Netflix acquired and has set an October 18th release date.
Hammer plays as a bartender who discovers a cell phone after a violent brawl and he begins to receive ominous messages and his life quickly descends into a nightmare
Then there’s the trailer for “Everybody’s Everything,” the Terrence Malick-produced documentary about the brief career of musician Lil’ Peep who died from an overdose at just 21. Malick is a close friend to the musician’s family and lent his name to the documentary which will have one-night-only ‘fan screenings’ nationwide on November 12th ahead of a limited release on November 15th.
Next comes the trailer for the Hitchcockian thriller “The Wolf Hour” starring Naomi Watts as a once celebrated counterculture figure who has cut herself off from the outside world. Looking down from her fifth floor South Bronx apartment, she watches the escalating unrest in a city on a knife-edge. Her weaknesses are soon exploited by an unseen tormentor, and her insular personal universe begins to unravel.
Then there’s the official trailer for “I Lost My Body,” an animated film in which a severed hand escapes its unhappy fate in a Parisian lab and sets out to reconnect with its body on a hair-raising escapade across the city. The film gets a limited release on November 15th ahead of a Netflix release November 29th.
Next is the new tearjerking drama “Ordinary Love” starring Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville and which hails from “Good Vibrations” directors Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn. The pair play a long-married couple whose lives are suddenly upended when Joan is diagnosed with breast cancer. Bleecker Street has yet to set a U.S. release date.
Onto the kiddie fare now and a new official trailer is here for the family animated adventure “Arctic Dogs” which features the voices of Jeremy Renner, Heidi Klum, Laurie Holden, John Cleese, Omar Sy, Michael Madsen, James Franco, Anjelica Huston, and Alec Baldwin with Renner singing the song you can hear in the trailer. The film opens November 1st.
Finally there’s yet another trailer for that Fox animated feature “Spies in Disguise” with Will Smith playing a suave super spy along with Tom Holland as a scientist with the unlikely duo forced to team up for the ultimate mission in which Smith’s spy becomes a pigeon for a mission. That film opens at Christmas.
