The Criterion Collection has announced its May releases, and the big news is a new release called “Scorsese Shorts” which will bring together five short films from the one and only Martin Scorsese.
Said shorts are the documentaries “Italianamerican” and “American Boy: A Profile of Steven Prince” along with three student films. The release will also include a new interview with Scorsese, and a discussion between filmmakers Ari Aster (“Hereditary,” “Midsommar”) and Josh and Benny Safdie (“Uncut Gems,” “Good Time”).
That release will be joined by Paul Dano’s directorial debut “Wildlife” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan, the classic Steve McQueen film “The Great Escape,” Dorothy Arzner’s “Dance, Girl, Dance,” John Cassavetes’ “Husbands,” and Eric Rohmer’s influential series “Six Moral Tales”.
The news arrives after yesterday’s announcement that Criterion will add Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite” and “Memories of Murder” to its collection later this year.
