Ritter Won’t Return To Jessica Jones Role

The Marvel-Netflix relationship is over with the just-released third season of “Jessica Jones” being the last effort of their joint collaboration.

Since news broke of the end of the deal, some fans have held onto the highly unlikely hope that the shows would be re-assembled at Disney+ or Hulu in a few years time, but the actors and creators are all already moving onto other projects.

That includes Miss Jones herself, actress Krysten Ritter, who tells TV Line this week that her time as a Marvel superhero has come to an end and she’s good with that: “Do I think I’ll play her again? I don’t think so. I feel like I’ve played her, you know? I feel really good about it. I feel good about closing the door.”

Series creator Melissa Rosenberg feels the same, saying: “I feel like this is a really complete, closed chapter. I mean, never say never. But I feel ready to tell all new stories.”

Ritter was one of the breakout stars of the mini-Marvel Netflix Universe and the show’s first season considered one of the best works produced by the collaboration. The produced three seasons are expected to live on at Netflix for that least the next few years.
