Will Smith is in early talks to star in the film adaptation of Marcus Sakey’s sci-fi novel “Brilliance” at Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures.
Julius Onah (“God Particle”) will direct this tale set in a world where one percent of children born are savants (aka ‘brilliants’) who have heightened cognitive abilities.
A federal agent uses his extraordinary gift to track down a terrorists and must stop a fellow savant who intends to start a civil war.
David Koepp penned the script while Joe Roth and Palak Patel are producing. The book is the first in a planned trilogy so there’s a potential franchise here.
