Apple Cancels “The Last Frontier” Series

Apple TV

Apple TV has cancelled its Jason Clarke-led action thriller series “The Last Frontier” after one season. The verdict comes down after the series wrapped up its ten-episode run earlier this month.

Clarke starred as Frank Remnick, the lone U.S. marshal in charge of a quiet and rugged patch of Alaska. His world is turned upside-down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates.

Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching implications.

Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessel, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and Alfre Woodard co-starred while the series was executive produced by Jon Bokenkamp (“The Blacklist”) and Richard D’Ovidio, who also serve as writers

Reviews were very mixed, with the pilot liked but the rest of the show not so much, and complaints were mainly labelled at the pacing. It seemed emblematic of the kind of show that had a decent film premise stretched out beyond capacity to fit a season of television.
