Screenwriters Jordan Weiss and Dan Brier have boarded the live-action “Polly Pocket” film at Mattel Studios and Amazon MGM Studios.
Weiss created the Hulu series “Dollface” and co-wrote the recent “Freakier Friday”. She and Dan Brier previously teamed on last year’s HBO Max original film “Sweethearts”.
Also joining the project is Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine label which will co-develop the film based on the popular micro-doll toys.
Launched in 1989 with a series of tiny collectibles, the brand got relaunched in 2018 with updates – subsequently spawning animated TV specials and YouTube content.
Previously, Emmy nominee Lena Dunham was attached to direct and write the film, but dropped out last year.
“Emily in Paris” star Lily Collins remains attached to play the titular role with her Case Study Films label also producing.
