Netflix has premiered the official teaser trailer for the Colman Domingo-led biopic “Rustin” which shines the light on one of the U.S. civil rights movement’s most overlooked key figures – Bayard Rustin.
Rustin was a key architect of Martin Luther King Jr.’s momentous March on Washington in 1963 and spent decades of his life working to end racial discrimination in the workplace.
As he was also an out gay man, he was often forced to work behind the scenes by others, fearful it would undermine civil rights progress. Many of his achievements have been lost to widely known history… until now.
The film is directed by DGA Award and five-time Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe and stars Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo as Rustin.
Also starring are Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, CCH Pounder, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Johnny Ramey, Michael Potts, with Jeffrey Wright and Audra McDonald.
Wolfe, Bruce Cohen and Tonia Davis produce. “Rustin” will be released in select theaters on November 3rd and then premieres globally on Netflix on November 17th.
