FX and Hulu have announced that the second season of their critically acclaimed restaurant drama “The Bear” drew a major audience for the streamer.
The series reportedly saw a 70% increase in total hours streamed in its first four days of availability following its June 22nd launch – as compared to the FX series first season stats over the same post-premiere time period.
The first season premiered late last June and consisted of eight episodes compared to the second season’s ten episodes. Both seasons dropped all available episodes at launch.
FX and Hulu did not reveal the actual streaming viewership figures, but they do say the second season’s debut performance made it the most-watched premiere of any FX series on Hulu. It was also the most-watched single season of a comedy series in FX history.
The series follows Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard ‘Richie’ Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they work to transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot.
At the same time the crew undertakes transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.
Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colon-Zayas and Matty Matheson co-star. Christopher Storer created the series and executive produces alongside Joanna Calo, Hiro Murai, Josh Senior and Matty Matheson.
