“Gotham” and “Southland” actor Ben McKenzie says he’s open to a reboot of the show that made him famous – “The OC”.
McKenzie played Ryan Atwood, a troubled teen taken in by wealthy Newport Beach public defender Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher) and his wife (Kelly Rowan).
The actor, currently 47 years old, was 24 when he first starred in the series and the oldest of the cast at the time. Adam Brody, Mischa Barton, and Rachel Bilson co-starred.
Doing an interview with Sydney radio station KIIS 1065, McKenzie was asked about the possibility and responded:
“I don’t know that there has ever been serious talks, but I’d be up for it… Yeah, I think so, under the right circumstances. It was a great show. We had a great time. I learned a lot. I was so young, we were all young.”
He also said he showed the show’s pilot to his 10-year-old daughter and immediately regretted it: “I forgot that in the pilot, there is binge drinking, cigarette smoking, cocaine, and a threesome. Of course, my 10-year-old loved it and wanted to watch more.”
He adds he gets teenagers, who weren’t even alive when the show came out, coming up to him to talk about it.
