It’s official, the Nic Cage-led “Spider-Noir” has been axed and won’t be returning to Prime Video.
The Wrap reports that Amazon opted not to renew the series for a second season, the decision coming just over three months after the show launched in late May to good reviews.
Cage starred as Ben Reilly, a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.
Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson co-starred, while much of the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal served as executive producers alongside showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot.
Released both in black-and-white and luscious colour, the series scored eleven Emmy nominations, the most of any Prime Video series in 2026, while also generating strong numbers with 2.6 billion viewing minutes in its first six weeks, according to Nielsen.
Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios will reportedly continue collaborating to expand stories about Marvel characters and have already identified what they’ll work on next.
