Zachary Levi Responds To “Shazam” Reports

Warner Bros. Pictures

A lot of people have been weighing in on the tepid reviews and underwhelming $65 million worldwide box-office debut for the DC Comics adaptation “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”. Now it’s the star of the film’s turn.

Earlier today came the report from The Wrap that indicated Dwayne Johnson allegedly nixed planned post-credits stingers for both “Black Adam” and the “Shazam” sequel that would’ve linked the properties as he tried to shape Black Adam as the center of a new DC universe.

In the wake of that report being shared about on social media, Levi himself posted an Instagram story that screen captured the key facts of the article in bullet point form, and added the caption “the truth shall set you free” along with a ‘raising hands’ emoji.

Elsewhere, the actor was asked on social media not to blame the Snyder fans for the film’s disappointment to which he said: “Hmmm. Where did you get the idea that I’m blaming the Snyder fans?”.

Someone responded to that saying Snyder fans were happy for the failure of the film to which Levi partially agreed and then put the blame on the film’s marketing for its underperformance, tweeting the following:

“This is also true. Sad, but true. How much that actually affects the box office is anyone’s guess. But I think the biggest issue we’re having is marketing. This is a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families aren’t aware of that. Which is just a shame.

I have no issue with Snyder fans. Heck, I’ve been to nearly all his movies myself. My issue is with anyone who wishes to destroy something, simply because it’s not what they want. That comes from hate, not love.”

“Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is currently out in cinemas worldwide.
