20th Century Studios and Disney have officially wrapped production on “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” which has been shooting around the Disney Studios complex in Sydney, Australia since October.
Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Dichen Lachman and Kevin Durand in a story that takes place many years after the conclusion of 2017’s trilogy capper “War for the Planet of the Apes”.
“The Maze Runner” trilogy director Wes Ball helms this story of numerous ape societies that have grown from when Caesar brought his people to an oasis. At the same time humans have been reduced to a feral-like existence.
In the years since some groups have never heard of Caesar, while others have contorted his teaching to build burgeoning empires. In this setting, one ape leader begins to enslave other groups in an effort to find leftover human technology.
At the same time another ape, who watched his clan be taken, embarks on a journey to find freedom with a young human woman becoming key to his quest. She has plans of her own though.
Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison penned the script for the film which is slated to open on May 24th 2024.
