Elden Ring Scores Stunning Reviews
FromSoftware

Reviews are out for “Dark Souls” and “Bloodborne” creators FromSoftware’s newest title “Elden Ring” and the reviews have been nothing short of ecstatic with the game receiving perfect 10/10 scores from multiple outlets.

Created in collaboration with “Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin, the fantasy action-RPG adventure takes Souls-style mechanics with their difficult-as-hell boss fights but sets it within a ‘go anywhere’ open world. It also adds additional freedoms of customisation, and wraps it in a story more epic in scope but also simpler to follow.

On Metacritic, the PS5 version of the title has clocked in at a 97/100 while the Xbox and PC versions are at a 95/100. The only other titles in the last decade or so to pull numbers along these lines have been Rockstar Games’ “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Red Dead Redemption 2” along with Nintendo’s “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Super Mario Odyssey”.

It also immediately puts the game up there with some of the best-reviewed titles of all time including the original “Halo,” “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves,” “BioShock,” “Goldeneye,” “Mass Effect 2,” “Super Mario Galaxy,” “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,” “Metroid Prime,” “Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” Resident Evil 4″ and “Batman: Arkham City” which all scored 96 or above.

The three main versions (PC, PS5, XSX) now take up the top three slots on this year’s ten best games list followed by “God of War” on PC (93) and “Horizon: Forbidden West” on PS5 (88). The bottom five all scored 87 and include “Total War: Warhammer III”, the PS5 remaster “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection”, two versions of “OlliOlli World” and the PC edition of “Monster Hunter Rise”.

“Elden Ring” goes on sale everywhere this Friday.
