New “Power Rangers” Set At Netflix

New Power Rangers Set At Netflix
Lionsgate

Just over a year ago came the news that “The End of the F—-ng World” director was going to team with Hasbro and eOne on a new reboot of the “Power Rangers” franchise.

At the time it seemed a new feature film leading into a new series (or several series) was on the cards. Now comes word that Netflix appears to be the service to have landed this new take.

eOne’s President of Global Television, Michael Lombardo, revealed the news as part of an interview with Deadline this week and revealed the plan includes a major cinematic universe consisting of several films and shows all for Netflix:

“Since we set up ‘Power Rangers’ with Jonathan, we pitched really a whole-world approach. It’s not just one show; it is shows followed by films, some kids’ programming. We have found a great writing partner for him; they are off. Knock on wood, Netflix is excited, we’re excited, we hope to have some news soon.”

It’s expected Entwistle will start afresh rather than build upon the 2016 film reboot at Lionsgate which did surprisingly decently with the critics but failed at the box-office. No potential release plans for works in this new ‘universe’ have been revealed as yet.
