Curtis Murphy Plan High Five Origin Series
FOX

Jamie Lee Curtis will re-team with her “Scream Queens” TV mega-producer Ryan Murphy for the new limited series “Outfielder” on Netflix.

Curtis revealed the news on Hero Nation podcast this week, describing the series as being about “the life of the man who invented the High Five” and revealing she’s been trying to get the series made as a producer for over ten years.

That man in question is 19-year old Los Angeles Dodger Glenn Burke who delivered the first recorded high five in October 1977 in the middle of a baseball game.

Burke was also the first MLB player to come out as gay to his teammates and team owners during his professional career and the first to publicly acknowledge it.

The project, which would be written and directed by Tony-nominated Robert O’Hara, is still in the early conversation stage and so no deals are yet made.
