Next year’s iteration of the annual CinemaCon event has been pushed back by four months – moving from April to August next year.
The annual gathering of theater owners and Hollywood studios still intends to go on next year after this year’s edition was cancelled due to COVID-19. Today’s announcement cited ongoing international travel restrictions and limits on large gatherings as the reason to postpone next year.
The shift come as the relationship between exhibitors and Hollywood studios is at its most fraught in many years. In the U.S., 55-60% of cinemas currently remain offline.
