Louis Leterrier To Helm The “Bright” Sequel

“The Incredible Hulk” and “Now You See Me” helmer Louis Leterrier is in talks to direct the sequel to Netflix’s 2017 fantasy cop action feature “Bright”.

Leterrier steps in for “Suicide Squad” helmer David Ayer, who directed the first film and was attached to the sequel. Ayer remains on as a producer and co-writer alongside Evan Spiliotopoulos and T.S. Nowlin.

Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are expected to return as LAPD detectives in the fictional Los Angeles filled with fairies, orcs and elves. The film was Netflix’s first attempt at big budget filmmaking with a reported $90 million.

The film scored poor reviews, but had a big viewership on the streaming service. Leterrier most recently directed the first season of “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” for Netflix.
