Following his comments yesterday about “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” more quotes have arrived from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” voice actor Sam Witwer’s recent “Battlefront II” Twitch stream in regards to his take on the franchise.
CBR has done some more transcribing of his comments and it seems he also spoke about his reaction to the more recent “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. Turns out he may be even less of a fan of that film than of “Last Jedi”.
Like with Johnson’s movie, he says Abrams’ second film had some “great moments,” but the film faces a similar problem to him as ‘Last Jedi’ in that it just doesn’t feel like the “Star Wars” Lucas created according to him:
“It’s um… look, if you like it, awesome. It’s not as meaningful to me because I can’t really reconcile that mythology with George’s. But that’s just my opinion, you know? My personal is take is I think a Star Wars where the moral of the story is ‘throw down your weapon, don’t hurt your family, love or fear.’ I think that’s superior than a Star Wars where you win by melting the bad guy’s face off. That’s just my thing… I don’t know that you can do a better ending than Return of the Jedi.”
Witwer hasn’t appeared in a live-action “Star Wars” film to date, but has provided vocals for at least two of the films. Witwer has voiced Darth Maul across multiple animated series, and led the “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed” video games in the past.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” just became available on the Disney+ streaming service on Monday and is now available on Digital HD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD as well.
