Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation are developing a reboot of iconic 1990s cartoon “The Animaniacs” following the series’ arrival on Netflix last year which saw a huge surge in the show’s popularity.
Steven Spielberg, who developed the original as a follow-up to “Tiny Toon Adventures,” is expected to be on board in crafting the updated version. The project, however, is still in early development and so there’s no network or streaming service home for it yet.
The original ran for 99 episodes from 1993 to 1998 and spawned the primetime spinoff “Pinky and the Brain”. Rob Paulsen, Tress MacNeille, Jess Harnell, Sherri Stoner and Maurice LaMarche lent their voices to the series.
