Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt appear to be trying to do something of a more light-hearted remake of “The African Queen” judging by the first official video from the set of Walt Disney Pictures’ currently in production “Jungle Cruise”.
Based on the theme park ride, the pair star alongside Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons and Paul Giamatti. Johnson plays a boat captain who takes a woman (Blunt) and her brother (Whitehall) on a mission to find a tree believed to possess healing powers.
Ramirez plays a man with a conquistador background leading a competing German expedition with Plemons as his aide. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (“Star Trek Beyond”) and Michael Green (“Logan”) penned the script.
Filming began in May and will continue through Summer ahead of a release next year.
