Carrie Coon (“Widows,” “Fargo”) and Finn Wolfhard (“IT,” “Stranger Things”) are being eyed to star in Jason Reitman’s new “Ghostbusters” film at Sony Pictures.
The story for the sequel to the two original films is said to focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon as the mom and Wolfhard as her son. More family members have yet to be cast.
The project has no link to the 2016 “Ghostbusters” reboot and while there’s been online debate about that, both director Paul Feig and actress Melissa McCarthy have given Reitman’s version their blessing.
Reitman is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Gil Kenan while Ivan Reitman will produce. Filming begins this summer for a July 10th 2020 release.
