The script for Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” is complete with more casting expected to be announced in the coming months. At present, Robert Pattinson is the only confirmed star for the film – taking on the main role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Appearing at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend to promote “Ford vs. Ferrari,” former Batman actor Christian Bale was asked by Variety about the Pattinson casting to which he said: “Ah, good…good choice. He’s interesting. I’m sure he’ll come up with something really interesting.”
As for the advice that he would give Pattinson, Bale said it’s the same as what he told Ben Affleck: “Be able to pee by yourself. You don’t feel much like a superhero when you can’t take a piss by yourself.”
Pattinson’s former “Twilight” co-star Kristen Stewart was also asked about the casting and could barely contain her joy, telling Variety: “Oh man, I feel like he’s the only guy that can play that part. I am so happy for him it’s crazy… I’m very very happy about that, I heard that and was like ‘oh man’. Yeah yeah, it’s awesome.”
The comments come as rumors about the film also sprung up in the past few days with one suggesting the plot will be a whodunnit style storyline as Batman investigates a series of strange murders. This would explain the inclusion of multiple villains as potential suspects.
Filming on the project is expected to begin around year’s end in the UK ahead of a Summer 2021 release.
